Barcode Databases

Getting more information from a barcode

Barcode database sites and smart-phone barcode apps search the internet for information about the particular barcode number that has been entered or scanned. The information that is returned is generally the company name and/or contact details, relevant product information, or even where you can purchase a product from.

You can search for any EAN-13 or UPC barcode number on various sites or apps (such as International Barcodes Database, IBNREG, using smartphone apps or the Zebra Scanner).

If you buy barcodes from us, then you will receive free barcode/product registration on IBNREG (International Barcode Network Registry) and the International Barcodes Database. When you register your barcode number and product details on the International Barcodes Database, then your product details will be displayed when customers search for your barcode number in online search engines (e.g. Google) or on some smart-phone apps.

Please note that some smart-phone barcode apps only search in online stores such as Amazon.com (they don’t search in the online barcode databases). This means that their database of barcode numbers/product details is very limited. The best barcode scanner’s (e.g. the Zebra Scanner) search in Amazon and other online stores as well as the main online barcode/product databases.
